| The branch of dentistry that specialises in aligning teeth is called orthodontics. Orthodontic treatment usually involves wearing an appliance (brace). This puts gentle pressure on specific teeth to move them into the right place. These can be used in varied types of cases like impaction of teeth, proclination of front teeth, crowding of teeth or exchange of position of teeth. |
| Thumb sucking, mouth breathing: Besides these, habit breaking appliances and certain exercises can be given for thumb sucking, tongue thrusting and mouth breathing. Also appliances for modulation of skeletal problems in young child are recommended. |

| Cleft lip and palate cases: Patients of unilateral or bilateral cleft lip and palate, collapsed maxilla requiring expansion in maxilla prior to surgery can be done with appliances, both removable and fixed. |
